Behaving like a system – keeping the conversation going

25th January 2016, words by Habiba Nabatu

Following on from Collaborate’s report on the preconditions of place-based systems change, Clare Wightman, Director of Grapevine has written her reflections on how values drive system change. Grapevine and Coventry Law Centre have formed IGNITE, a programme that wants  to change the way public services are delivered, away from crisis and towards acting earlier on people’s problems.  Both organisations are curious about how you really make deep change happen in big complex systems dealing with intractable social problems.

Clare’s reflections deeply resonate with the learning that has emerged from the work with our partners, who would agree with her that it’s not formal structures or top down strategies that drive the kind of change we need now – it’s initiative, energy, relationships and commitment. All of them motivated and fed by our values.
