What attracted you to being a trustee at Lankelly Chase?

All of my working life has been spent in roles which seek to help people on the margins. Often they have problems of addiction, homelessness, offending or poor mental health, with poverty an additional layer of disadvantage. Although I have seen people overcome such problems and live fulfilled lives, many more are unable to do so because of factors beyond their control. Lankelly Chase seek to find a fresh approach to change that can help to radically transform the lives of people with severe and multiple disadvantage and I want to play a part in helping them to achieve this.

I am Operations Director of Changing Lives, a national social inclusion charity based in Gateshead; I have also worked in Middlesbrough, London and Edinburgh. I was a member of the Newcastle Fairness Commission, have sung with a Recovery Choir and founded Soul Food Spaces, a charity creating community through food.
