What attracted you to being a trustee at Lankelly Chase?
Our public services – the NHS, schools, social housing, the benefits system – these are extraordinary gifts from previous generations. But their imperfections escalate unless we continually review and improve. Lankelly Chase’s focus is on people who most need society’s help and who are, perversely, least well served by these services. If we get it right for them, we address the faults that threaten the whole system. My experience is across public services, especially in moving things forward in complex/challenging environments. I’m interested in handing on a system that works.
My other roles are Director of Black Radley, the public services management consultancy, the Chair of Shrewsbury & Telford Hospital NHS Trust, Visiting Professor of Enterprise at Birmingham City University. I was formerly Chair of the Community Development Foundation, Chair of Urban Living, Chair of Birmingham Leadership Foundation and Director of a BME-led housing association.
