LGBT Foundation is a national charity delivering a range of health and wellbeing services to lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBT) people, as well as undertaking a variety of research and campaigning projects.
A lack of effective focus on LGBT issues has led to the creation of services which are unsuitable for, or unused by, people with different sexual and gender identities, and set visions of what disadvantage ‘looks like’ can become unhelpful and inflexible. Lankelly Chase is therefore funding LGBT Foundation to explore what constitutes severe and multiple disadvantage for LGBT people, using a mixture of quantitative and qualitative research to illuminate what life is like for LGBT people at the margins. Working in the political context of devolution in Greater Manchester, the LGBT Foundation is also using this developing evidence to drive the development of inclusive support services for people facing multiple disadvantages.
